Snacks at Walt Disney World Everyone Should Try At Least Once!

Posted:  Dining Parks Tips

I am a foodie. Before I get to Walt Disney World, I am already thinking about all the delicious tastes I will experience! My name is Allison, and my teammate Mya and I wanted to share our favorite “must try at least once” snacks to see which ones we might have in common!

Baked goods such as cookies, cupcakes, and Mickey-shaped candy apples are displayed in a large bakery case.

Allison: I love Disney snacks, and it is one of the things I do best when on a trip. I love food and trying new delights, but I also have a list of favorites that are a must-try at least once! Most of my favorite snacks can be found in Magic Kingdom, however, you’ll find something to indulge in no matter where you go!

Mya: I am a planner, and one of the first things I do before heading on a trip to Disney is make a list of the snacks I have to get while at Walt Disney World and where to find them. Snacks have always been a huge part of my trips, and I often find that I still think about them years later. It’s hard to choose only a few snacks because there are many great options.

Nestle Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar

Allison: Let me start with the classic Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar. This chocolate-coated vanilla ice cream bar is the best thing to start a trip with! I love cooling off from the Florida heat with this delightful treat. In the shape of Mickey’s head on a stick, once you have your first bite, this will surely be a highlight of your visit! This iconic ice cream treat can be found at various locations, so it’s easy to pick one up quickly. I highly recommend it if you have not tried it!

Mya: Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar is a classic snack at Walt Disney World for sure! The wrappers might change over the years, but the flavor has remained the same since I had one on my first trip in the early 2000s. It’s a must-have while on a trip to Disney!

Mickey-shaped Waffles

Allison: Disney is known for its classically delicious Mickey Waffles, and if you love something sweet, look no further than Sleepy Hollow at Magic Kingdom!

A light brown sign in a dark wood frame displays the menu items at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments. There are small photos of the Mickey-shaped waffle items as well as funnel cakes and a corn dog.

The Mickey Waffle with Chocolate-Hazelnut Spread, Bananas, Berries, and Whipped Cream is my top pick. The larger-than-your-palm-size waffle is warm and smothered in Chocolate-Hazelnut Spread, creating a melt of chocolate on top. Not only is there Chocolate-Hazelnut Spread, but fruit is added to top it off, allowing you to escape to serenity!

DOLE Whip

Mya: DOLE Whip is a soft-serve dairy-free frozen dessert found at Walt Disney World and was first served in Magic Kingdom in the 1980s. Guests can find a variety of flavors of this tasty treat at a couple of quick-service restaurants throughout WDW.

A hand holds a cup full of pineapple DOLE Whip soft-serve. A wooden tiki statue and green tropical foliage are seen in the background.

The original DOLE Whip is made with pineapple juice and soft-serve ice cream. Different locations have other flavors, such as raspberry-pineapple swirl and coconut swirl, and guests can enjoy a variety of floats as well. Guests can also find different seasonal DOLE Whip flavors and themes throughout the year. It’s my favorite treat to enjoy on a hot day, and my favorite location to purchase DOLE Whip is Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows!

A large sign with a yellow pineapple and green lettering reading “Pineapple Lanai” is seen on a dark wood wall at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. To the right of the sign, a walk-up window is seen with a menu board with pictures of DOLE Whip items on it.

Mickey Waffle with Sweet-and-Spicy Maple Chicken

Allison: Next up for a must-try treat is the Mickey Waffle with Sweet-and-Spicey Maple Chicken, also found at Sleepy Hollow in Magic Kingdom! Anyone who knows me knows I love all types of spices, chicken, and waffles, as mentioned, but when you combine these things, the creation has a magical taste. The sweet and spicy flavors come from the Maple-Sriracha glaze on the chicken, topping the waffle, which can be folded up to eat like a sandwich for convenience. Even writing about it now, I am daydreaming about it!

If you have not been able to guess that I have a sweet tooth, you definitely will after I mention the next snack!

Gideon’s Bakehouse

Allison: Gideon’s Bakehouse at Disney Springs is one for the books, and if you have not been there yet, you need to go! I’ll be honest, the wait for this bakery can take some time, but it is worth it! These cookies are half a pound and will barely fit in the palm of your hand. I tried one on my last visit to Disney, and it was phenomenal!

Popcorn

Mya: Popcorn is one of my all-time favorite snacks to have on a trip to Disney! There is something special about popcorn from Walt Disney World. I don’t know what it is, but somehow, it’s different than popcorn you get anywhere else! There are multiple popcorn cart locations throughout all four Walt Disney World theme parks.

I love to purchase a refillable popcorn bucket at the beginning of my WDW trip so I can get it refilled numerous times throughout my stay. The refills are only $2.25! I love having popcorn to snack on as I watch the shows, parades, and nightly fireworks! It’s also great as a late-night snack in my resort room while watching a movie or show before bed.

Buttery popcorn is seen in a purple bucket under the Storybook Circus sign at Magic Kingdom under a blue sky.

Stores that sell snacks in the theme parks and the Disney resorts carry different popcorn flavors in bags for guests to purchase. I always aim to try at least one new popcorn flavor during my trips and my favorites are Caramel Popcorn, Outpost Popcorn Mix, Maple Bacon Popcorn, and the standard buttery popcorn. There are limited-time flavors for the season during the different holidays and celebrations.

Disney Cupcakes

Mya: There are days when I am at home, and all I can think about are the cupcakes from Disney World. When I did the Disney College Program, I worked half of the program rotating between the Sunset Boulevard and Echo Lake quick-service locations in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I can still remember the sweet smell of the icing from when I would serve one to a guest! I loved that the cupcakes were unique, and nowhere else outside of Disney could replicate them.

Easter-themed vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with colorful decorative frosting and chocolate Mickey ears are displayed in a bakery showcase.

Guests can purchase Disney cupcakes at multiple locations in the four theme parks and resorts at WDW, including many quick-service restaurants. My favorite cupcakes were the seasonal ones in the parks. I especially enjoyed the Merry Unbirthday Cupcake at the Cheshire Café in Magic Kingdom.

Turkey leg

Mya: It may be an unpopular opinion, but I enjoy the turkey legs at Walt Disney World! When I did the Disney College Program in 2015, Toluca Legs Turkey Company was one of the quick-service locations I worked at most days before the restaurant closed. I got a good workout carrying trays of the large turkey legs, which weighed over 1.5 pounds. I find that even though they are called turkey legs, they taste like ham. I enjoyed having them as either a snack or even a meal because of how filling they are.

Turkey legs can currently be found at Liberty Square Market and Prince Eric’s Village Market at Magic Kingdom, and Fife & Drum Tavern at EPCOT.

The Germany, Italy, and America country pavilions are seen around World Showcase at EPCOT from the waters of World Showcase Lagoon under a sunny sky.

Mini Corn Dogs (aka Corn Dog Nuggets)

Allison: Last but not least, my absolute favorite snack to have and something I genuinely believe everyone should have at least once on every trip to Disney is the corn dog nuggets (now officially named Mini Corn Dogs) from Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom. I talk about these before and after my trip because they are so good, and I usually get two orders when I go to make sure I have enough! I love eating this while walking down Main Street U.S.A. or watching the fireworks. I will even start my morning with them as soon as Casey’s Corner opens because who doesn’t love a good corn dog at any time in the day?!

The sun shines on the white and yellow exterior of Casey’s Corner on Main Street U.S.A. at Magic Kingdom. The windows have red and white striped awnings, and there is a large, C-shaped sign reading “Casey’s Corner” on top of the building.

With so many tastes and so little time, these are just a few of our go-to favorites! Do you have a favorite snack from Walt Disney World that you think everyone should try at least once?
