Art is the Heart of Disney’s Riviera Resort
Greetings and salutations, my fellow travelers! One of the things I love collecting is art for my walls. Art prints, movie posters, and more are framed and added wherever I can put them. Some of my favorite art pieces are at Disney resorts, especially at Disney’s Riviera Resort. So today, I’m going to be going over a lot of the different art you can find around this breezy European-themed resort.
The Mosaics at the Skyliner
Let’s start with some of the really iconic Riviera art. When you get off the Skyliner at the Riviera station, you’ll pass through an archway leading to the resort. This area features some very nice fountains and two stunning mosaics that run from the ground on each side all the way to the top and across the entire ceiling of the archway. The two mosaics are made up of thousands of individual pieces of colored glass, with one depicting Big Ben and Neverland from Peter Pan with Peter and the Darling children flying across the ceiling. The other features Rapunzel’s tower and the lantern festival in the Kingdom of Corona from Tangled.
I want to go to the movies, s’il vous plaît!
This one may not stand out as much as others, but as someone who loves collecting theatrical movie posters, I have to mention the international Disney movie posters you can find at the Riviera. If you were ever curious about the French and Italian versions of your recent favorites, you can find them on display here.
Wandering the Hallways
The hallways of the Riviera are home to a whole bunch of amazing paintings covering multiple art styles. There are the more realistic ones of characters like Alice, the Darling family, and, my favorite as a book nerd, Belle reading by a fountain. There are taller, stylized Disney princess pieces featuring Rapunzel, Ariel, Cinderella, and Snow White, and there are impressionist pieces with Wall-E and Eve as well. It’s definitely worth exploring the resort to see all the different pieces you can find.
A Full Gallery Without Leaving Your Room
One of the really great parts of the Riviera’s varied art is that you don’t even have to leave your room to enjoy it. For those who like an abstract style of art, there are paintings featuring Cogsworth, Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, and Chip, as well as single-line drawings of Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto. There’s also a stylized abstract piece from 101 Dalmatians or Peter Pan behind the pull-down beds.
For lovers of the impressionist style, there’s a really great piece of art of Remy making a pie, and another personal favorite of mine is the Aristocats napping on an old-fashioned phonograph.
You can also find an old-fashioned stage poster for Minnie in a show called Mademoiselle Mouse and a watercolor of Mickey and Minnie.
Not Everything is in Plain Sight
Lastly, be sure to check out details beyond what’s on the walls. For example, the balcony railings feature both a hidden Mickey and a hidden Minnie in the ironwork—a detail you won’t find at other resorts.
Obviously, I wish I could bring a lot of these items home with me to decorate my place, but I want to know what your favorite pieces of resort art are. Is there a resort you love specifically for the art?
Until next time, fellow travelers!
