The Modern Magic of Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort!
What has one Sky Way Bridge, access to three pools, modern yet warm villas, and is just steps away from the Magic Kingdom? It’s Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort!
Located in the Magic Kingdom area of the Walt Disney World property, Bay Lake Tower is all about modern magic! Opened in 2009, the building itself looks similar to a chic city highrise and is adjacent to Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The two buildings are connected by the Sky Way Bridge, allowing BLT guests to easily access the amenities across the entire shared property, so you get the best of both worlds!
So, what makes Bay Lake Tower special, you might ask? Well, to start, I would answer with “location, location, location!” It’s located right across the street from the Magic Kingdom, and the theme park can be reached by using the pedestrian walkway in about 7-10 minutes or so (depending on your pace and the streetlight timing!) This close proximity to the Magic Kingdom makes this resort an ideal option for families with little ones who need an afternoon nap, those who like to pop back to their resort for some midday downtime, and for guests who plan to spend the majority of their time at that park.
In addition to being just a quick walk from the Magic Kingdom, Bay Lake Tower also offers a variety of different transportation options for guests. By making their way over to the Contemporary side of the property, visitors can conveniently access the Monorail, busses, and water taxi.
The water taxi (when running) is my personal favorite, as the views along the shores of Bay Lake are so pretty, the trip is quick yet relaxing, and the Cast Members onboard the boats are always super friendly!
Getting to the parks isn’t the only great aspect of staying at Bay Lake Tower; in fact, there is a lot to enjoy without even leaving the resort grounds. Guests staying here have access to three different pools! There is Bay Cove Pool at Disney’s Bay Lake Tower, which is exclusive access for the use of guests staying at Bay Lake Tower.
BLT guests can also use the Main Pool at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and a leisure pool at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Bay Lake Tower. Yes, Bay Lake guests can use all three pools across the property, while guests staying at the Contemporary Resort can access just the two pools on that side!
Swimming and splashing in the pools are just a couple of the activities guests can enjoy during their stay! There are also movies under the stars, sports such as tennis and basketball, jogging trails, lakeside yoga, boat rentals, fishing, and more!
The Community Hall here is also a great place to spend some time, and guests can find additional activities like games, movies, arts and crafts, and more, most of which are complimentary!
Along with a myriad of activities, Bay Lake Tower guests also have a variety of eateries to pick from during their visit! With just a quick jaunt across the Sky Way Bridge over to the Contemporary side of the property, you’ll find the Contempo Café and the Sand Bar for quick service locations. Theirs also the California Grill, Chef Mickey’s, and Steakhouse 71, where guests can enjoy table service meals, character meals, or signature dining options.
Over on the Bay Lake Tower side, the Cove Bar serves up tasty snacks and blissful beverages poolside!
Once you have explored the grounds of the resort, you’ll be ready to relax in the comfort of a DVC villa. Bay Lake Tower’s villas are all about modern décor and magic! With a mix of warm woods, cool splashes of color, and décor featuring the big cheese, Mickey Mouse himself!
The Studios are a perfect home away from home for a small family, couple, or solo getaway. You’ll find one queen bed, a double sleeper sofa, and a spacious kitchenette area with a mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, dishes, and cutlery!
In the One Bedroom villas, you’ll find a king-sized bed in the primary bedroom, as well as a full kitchen and in-room washer and dryer. As a bonus, the One Bedroom villas will also feature two full bathrooms, so there is plenty of space to get everyone all set and ready to go in the mornings!
Much like the One Bedroom villas, the Two Bedroom villas also have a full kitchen, in-room laundry facilities, and a king bed in the primary bedroom. The second bedroom will have either two queen beds or one queen bed and a double sleeper sofa. The Two Bedroom villas will also have 3 full bathrooms, a queen-size sleeper sofa, and a twin sleeper chair in the living room and can accommodate up to nine guests (plus an infant under age 3).
The Grand Villas are the ultimate home away from home! With three bedrooms, four full bathrooms, a washer/dryer, and a full kitchen, you have everything you need for a group of up to 12 guests (plus one infant under age 3). The primary bedroom here will also have one king bed, along with two additional bedrooms with two queen beds each, and another queen sleeper sofa and a double sleeper sofa in the common areas. There’s plenty of room for large parties to spread out and relax!
As you can see, you’ll find all your vacation must-haves at Bay Lake Tower! From the pools to the restaurants, the gorgeous lakeside views, to the villas, there is so much to see, do, experience, and fall in love with at this modern and magical resort.
