Four Reasons Why Now’s the Right Time to Visit WDW!
A reoccurring question that our team at David’s receives is when’s the right time to take my family to Disney? The conversation tends to focus on how old should the kids/grandkids be and what time of year is best?
The answer to those questions is … Now’s the best time to visit!
No matter the age a family member is, when they 1st visit WDW, there are amazing memories to be made. There are experiences that families can have together during their vacation that are focussed on family fun and can be talked about for years.
Looking specifically at 2022, here are my four reasons why now’s a great time to visit Walt Disney World!
2. You’ll be part of the 50th Celebration
Presently WDW is in the midst of its 50th celebration (on now until the end of 2022), and extra magic can be found at the parks and in the resorts.
There’s a celebration character cavalcade at Magic Kingdom that has Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Chip, and Dale in their anniversary outfits.
There are tons of 50th-anniversary snacks and merchandise options throughout WDW, and characters can even be found waving hello to guests at their resorts!
As part of this 50th celebration, various Disney characters are popping up at the resorts and surprising guests as they walk through the lobby or head to the pool. To me, I expect to see characters at a park, yet seeing them at the resorts was such a happy surprise; it brought the largest smile to my face!
2. The Return of the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review
The Pioneer Hall Players began entertaining folks in 1974, and with its continued popularity, the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review became one of the most talked-about and one of the longest-running dinner shows in North America.
In my opinion, this Vaudeville-style show is a great way for family members of all ages to enjoy an evening together and create memories that can last a lifetime. Guests are seated at tables for a 2-hour feast of countrified favorites like Fried Chicken and Strawberry Shortcake while being entertained with a mix of singing and comedy. Since guests are stationary at their tables, I believe this experience is perfect for families that have multiple generations coming together, and for me, it was a great night out with my mom on a previous trip.
I was thrilled when Disney announced that this dining experience would return on June 23rd, 2022, and reservations will be available starting May 26th.
3. A New Coaster has Landed at Epcot!
On May 27th, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will launch guests backwards as they rock out on an intergalactic chase! Epcot’s soon-to-be newest attraction is a family-thrill attraction with technology unlike anything else at WDW, where the ride vehicle will feature a reverse launch and is one of the largest fully-enclosed coasters in the world.
Cast Member previews, along with DVC Owner Previews and Annual Passholder previews, have already begun, and in just over two weeks, this new experience will be available for all guests to enjoy!
One thing to note is that Disney has shared that when the attraction opens, guests will need to join a virtual queue or purchase an individual Lightning Lane; standby queues will not be available.

4. New rooms at WDW’s Flagship Resort
Starting June 20th, guests can unpack in a new room type at the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa!
For the past several months, renovations have been underway, and an existing building has been redone to create a new option for DVC guests.
This new category of Resort Studios will be housed in their own building separate from the DVC building that contains the Deluxe Studios, 1 Bedroom Villas, 2 Bedroom Villas, and 3 Bedroom Grand Villas.
The Resort Studios will sleep up to 5 guests (plus an infant under the age of 3 years old), and each room will have two queen beds and a day bed. Resort Studios will not have a typical DVC kitchenette, yet will have a beverage cooler in each room.
For me, the most exciting element of these new rooms is the three view types; standard view, lake view, and theme park view! The Resort Studios Theme Park View are the only DVC rooms at the Grand Floridian that can guarantee guests a view of Magic Kingdom. The addition of the theme park view is another way to experience the magic, and I’ve definitely added the room category of a Resort Studio specifically with the theme park view to my Disney Wishlist!
There you have it! Those are my four reasons why now’s the right time to visit.
For me, it doesn’t matter if your family has members who are 8 months old or 80 years old, there’s something for everyone to experience, and it’s time to make those magical memories!
