Christmastime at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Posted:  Holidays Resorts

Merry Christmas everyone! I have a special treat for you this week. Each day we’ll be touring one of the resorts in the Magic Kingdom Resort area to see the holiday decorations. On our first stop today we’ll be enjoying the cozy, winter feel of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Don’t miss the Mary Blair inspired gingerbread tree at Disney’s Contemporary Resort tomorrow. We’ll take a break on Wednesday to enjoy the holiday, but be sure to come back on Thursday for an island-style Christmas at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. Then we’ll wrap things up on Friday with the grandest of all, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Enjoy!

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Villas is my top pick for where to stay for the winter holiday season. It may be Florida, but when you walk into the massive lobby of this rustic lodge, you’ll feel like you just stepped off the slopes to come sit by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate. And that’s exactly what I suggest you do. Take some time to enjoy the ambiance of this masterfully themed resort. Christmastime at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge can’t be beat when it come to the holiday spirit. The star of the show is a 60 foot Christmas tree in the center of the lobby, decorated with tee-pees, canoes, and forest animals.

For a perfect Christmas card photo, you can have a professional photo taken by Disney photographers in front of the tree.

Throughout the resort are lighted wreaths and garlands embellished with ornaments of bears and buffalo.

Another lovely place for a family photo is on the bridge that straddles Silver Creek Spring near the back of the lobby.

Or how about along side this family of bears?

A moose antler on a wreath? Why not? Anything goes on the wild frontier!

The lobby of the Disney Vacation Club Villas is equally as beautiful with a lovely tree in the center and festive garlands draped around the railings on the floors above.

When you’re done wandering around, taking in all the beauty of the great northwest, have a seat in a rocker and watch the world go by – you won’t want to get up!

Each of the Disney resorts has a limited edition holiday pin. This is the one for Wilderness Lodge for this year.

Be sure to come back tomorrow for our trip to the Contemporary Resort and Bay Lake Tower, where Christmas has a completely different look and feel. See you then…
