Which DVC Resort is Right For me?

Posted:  Resorts Tips

Greetings and salutations, fellow travelers! One question we get all the time at David’s Vacation Club Rentals is, ‘Which resort should I book?’ It’s a tricky question to answer. Everyone here has their favorites. I’ve been planning my next trip to Disney, and every time I think I know which DVC resort I want to stay at, something about the other resorts will catch my attention, and I’ll end up changing my mind. While each DVC resort is special in its own way, there are some things to consider that will help you pick which one is the best fit for you.

Favorite Theming

Boulder Ridge Building

Each Disney Vacation Club Resort has a very distinct theme. Some have a huge amount of theming, like Boulder Ridge Villas and Copper Creek Villas and Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge or the Polynesian Villas and Bungalows or Kidani Village and Jambo House at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas. These resorts make you feel like you’re in the deep woods of the Pacific Northwest, or a tropical island getaway, or on an expedition to the African savanna. It’s almost like getting two trips at the same time.

But there are also resorts that are more laid back and have a more traditional resort feel, like Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort or Disney’s Old Key West. If you want to enjoy the Florida experience, these might be a good fit.

We have plenty of photos, videos, and 360-degree virtual tours from the resorts that will give you the feel of each room so you can choose the one that fits your tastes.

Location, Location, Location

Disney’s Grand Floridian Sign

Walt Disney World has some of the best transportation options available. No matter where you’re staying, Disney buses, monorails, boats, and the Skyliner are all available to get you where you need to go without having to drive yourself. But, sometimes, being just that little bit closer to your favorite park or attraction can be a game changer. Is Magic Kingdom where you want to be? Maybe Bay Lake Tower, the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, or the Polynesian would be ideal.

Monorail

Do you spend most of your time at Epcot? The Beach Club Villas or Boardwalk Villas might be ideal for you. Do you like shopping and dining at Disney Springs? Plan on going for a few rounds of golf? Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa or Disney’s Old Key West could be a perfect fit.

Dining

Sign for Sanaa

One of the biggest draws for any visitor to Walt Disney World is the food. From signature snacks like Mickey Ice Cream Bars and Mickey Pretzels to the wide array of table service options to the unique signature dining options, Disney has some amazing and delicious options. While the parks have some fantastic choices, be sure to check up on what’s available at the resorts. Some resorts have exotic flavors to try, like Sanaa at Kidani Village at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas, which is one of my personal favorites. Other resorts offer special character dining like ‘Ohana at the Polynesian Villas and Bungalows.

‘Ohana Check-in Desk

While you can make dining reservations at any resort, it’s always easier if your preferred dining choices are right near your room. If there’s a resort dining experience you just have to try or a favorite you can’t do without, this can be a big influence on your resort choice.

Unique Features

Rocking Chairs overlooking the savanna

All the deluxe resorts have plenty to offer to make sure you have a great time during your stay. Sometimes a resort has one unique special feature that grabs your attention. Maybe it’s the thrill of seeing the wildlife on the savanna from your balcony at the Animal Kingdom Villas or the cozy feeling of the rocking chairs in front of the iconic fireplace in the lobby of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Maybe it’s a spectacular feature pool like Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Beach Club Villas. Or it could even be an amazing view of the Magic Kingdom from Bay Lake Tower.

Be sure to take a look at all the amenities a resort offers to see if it fits what you’re looking for.

While choosing a resort for your next trip isn’t always easy, I hope this will help make your choice a little easier. And just remember, there aren’t any bad choices or wrong answers. Go with the resort that speaks to you, and you’ll be just fine.

Until next time, fellow travelers!
