A Year of New Experiences

Posted:  Entertainment Great Ideas! Tips

Just like a snap of your fingers, January has flown by!  I feel as though this year is moving at lightning speed and if I don’t pause to make a plan, it may be over in a blink of an eye.

Like many others, at the start of the year, I like to craft a plan on what I want to accomplish in the next 365 days.  The noticeable difference with this year’s plan is that I’m making a Disney plan and will be focussing on Disney experiences I want to achieve.

1. Participate in a Run Disney Event

This has been on my “must do” list for years and I’m happy to say that in 2018 this dream is coming true!  Personally, I find running through a city a great way to see the sights, as it offers time to explore neighborhoods and see landmarks from a new angle.  The same idea applies to running through Walt Disney World and more specifically, Magic Kingdom.

It’s a new way to see the park, one that is otherwise impossible to do on a regular day.  Over the years, I’ve seen countless photos of runners from a Run Disney event running through the castle, and I can’t wait for my chance to do the same.

2. Five New Dining Options

I’ll admit, I can be a creature of habit.  In 2018 I want to break away from my usual Disney patterns.  The first step towards Disney freedom will be trying new restaurants. “New restaurants” can include any of the multitude of dining options that have recently opened; as well as “new to me” restaurants that have been part of Walt Disney World for years, yet I still have not sat down to enjoy a meal.

My hope is that by branching out with dining experiences, I’ll find new favorites and have more “must do’s” on my list for future Disney trips.  Some of the restaurants I’ve listed as options for 2018 include, The Edison, Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante and Paddlefish.

3. Say “Hello” to a New Character

Continuing with the idea of breaking out of my usual Disney pattern, I want to meet new characters.

Meet new Disney Characters

Of course, I’ll still have my usual favorites that I’ll visit; yet I want to make an effort to have a Meet and Greet with a “new to me” character.  Many of my most cherished Disney memories include meeting characters, so I think it’s important to expand this experience with new characters and create more Disney memories.

4. Explore a New World

I’ve yet to find a word that can describe how excited I am for Toy Story Land!!!!

The idea of being shrunk down to the size of a toy and roaming around Andy’s backyard sounds like a childhood dream come true.   I’ve eagerly followed along the updates of the Slinky Dog Dash coaster, and look forward to finding out what will be served up at Woody’s Lunch Box.  I can’t wait to be surrounded by the bright colors and enjoy this new area of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

5. Share the Magic

Last but not least, I want to share the Disney magic with family.  As a young child, I was fortunate to visit Walt Disney World on a family vacation, and on that trip, I fell in love with all things Disney.  The sites, the music, the overwhelming feeling of happiness was mesmerizing and helped shape me into the Disney fan I am today.  For 2018, I want to share that magic with my mother.  It’s been almost 30 years since she’s been to Walt Disney World and I can’t wait to experience this magical place through her eyes.

Well, there we have it, my Disney list for 2018!  One of the best things I love about Walt Disney World is that I never run out of “new” things to do.  There is always something more to see and do, and no matter how many times I visit, I still get excited.  Walt Disney World makes me smile, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of 2018 brings!
